Has anyone lived through a Hurrican there?

Hurricane Iniki swiped by the Big Island of Hawaii. I still remember the high winds ,20 ft surf that comes into Hilo bay. Usualy the Big Island rarely get hurricanes because the MTs pertect the Island pritty well. I also lived through Hurricane HUGO in North Carolina . Now that was scary!! I was more inland, away from the ocean but still we really felt the effects I lived in Fayetteville NC ...100 miles per hour winds, flooding and on top of that tornado warnings!!! It was bad!!! I hunkered down in my little one bedroom cabin / apt. and prayed all night. I was single and living on my own at 22 years of age. I was living near my Grandparents there for 4 years, before that I live in Honolulu on Oahu.
