Was having problems hearing callers on the phone. I could hear the ring OK, but would answer and wouldn't hear anything. I jacked the call volume to max and could barely hear my wife on the phone. I put it on speaker and that helped, but I was at Ala Moana Center and it was pretty noisy, so it wasn't perfect, either.

The next day, while driving, the kid called me, and I couldn't hear him EITHER! Infuriating! When I stopped the car at school, I looked at the phone and SLAPPED MY HEAD IN A DUH MOMENT!

I had left the plastic on the front of the phone as a screen protector, but it completely covered the sound hole.

DUH!

Another "duh" moment:

Sitting at the office working, 60gb iPod clipped to the belt pumping out Velvet Revolver, iPhone in my pocket, sleeping.

Suddenly, the music mutes on the iPod. I grab for the iPod to scrutinize the problem. Why did my music stop playing?

A moment later, the iPhone in my pocket buzzes! OH! CALENDAR ALARM! And a moment later, the music resumes where it left off. Awesome!

I'm thinking the phone told the iPod to pause while issuing the calendar alarm! How cool is that?!

Hours later, when I get home from work, SLAPPED MY HEAD IN ANOTHER DUH MOMENT!

Both the iPod and iPhone are synched to the same calendar. They both issued calendar alarms within moments of each other, independently.

Resume your geeking. Nothing to see here. :D
